Easy fit car alarms
Neighbour is looking for a cheap alarm for his car.
He's looking at these

He's aware it says its for a Bike/Quad, but is there any reason that this alarm wouldn't work in a car?

the alarm could be a bit too small and under the hood only yelp, rather than scream. Plus I have never liked shock sensors.
Not as easy fit, more expensive, again with shock sensors. but more upmarket http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HOT-GPS-tracker-TK106A-GPS106A-support-SD-card-2sim-cards-fuel-sensor-Camera-/271281882446?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item3f29a9054e0 -
At a guess I'd say the easier it is to fit the easier it is to defeat

Thats what I said (on both counts) but he says the car is worth less than £1k so he only wants a cheap/cheerful alarm. Plus the same model is apparently available on ebay for only £8.
I'm assuming that because it runs from a 12v battery on a bike it would be no different running it on a car?[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

I agree - easy fit = easy bypass0 -
Why is he bothering? Alarms are more hassle than they are worth, especially if they are cheap and nasty ones off ebay!
On a car worth £1k, there is no point at all and will cause more problems than it will solve, and generally on cars of this value, an alarm makes no difference to any insurance quote either!
I don't know anyone who takes any notice of them when they go off anyway!0 -

If it was MY neighbour I'd be advising against it - I wouldn't want to be woken up by poorly fitted or poorly made alarms being triggered randomly.
Why do they want an alarm anyway? Would a steering lock be better if they are worried about theft?Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0
