Character cottage wanted

Does anyone know of a cottage available to hire for two nights at the end of September please? Max budget £150 - £200.
Ideally maximum of around 2 hrs drive from London, excluding Dorset (just because we'll have recently holidayed there).
For two adults and two children plus one dog.
Surprise birthday present so ideally would like some real character within it.
Have looked at many of the cottage hiring sites but wondered if anyone had any personal recommendations please?
