Child minder - urgent

Folks

Need your help. We have a family member looking after our young kids who has suffered a severe medical condition but is thankfully stable and in recovery.

I hope the outcome is good. Regardless how this plays out, we need to sort out childminding, and at fairly short notice,

Does anyone out there have recommendations in the Bangor/Holywood area.

Many Thanks

Obviously they are looking for used and trusted people rather than a random person who happens to come up on Google.
  • Sorry I don't have any recommendations. However, the Northern Ireland Childminding Association may be able to help you. You can search their website for childminders with vacancies:

  • Go with your instincts. I met with a couple before I found a lady I was happy to leave my boys with. Good luck x

As mentioned previously, contact NICMA, they will give you a list of
registered child minders in your area.

Don't consider using an unregistered child minder.

If any of your children are in school/nursery/play group, you could ask other parents there for recommendations too. I think some schools have lists of local childminders too so even if your children are younger it wouldn't hurt to ask - not sure if they're approved by the school or just known to drop kids off there but you'd hope they'd take any bad eggs of the list!
  • Look at the childcare section on netmums. Also, not all registered childminders here are with NICMA therefore always check they have a registration certificate from relevant health and social care trust and ask to see it along with their insurance. I would recommend you contact the Early Years social workers for your relevant Trust area as they will also have a list.

    Hi,
Not all childminders have to be registered and insured witg Nicma, thet can get insurance elsewhere and are registered with their local early years team.
Try calling the local early years team and ask for a list of childminders, their lists are bigger than nicma because they include all childminders regardless of who they are registered with.
    Good luck!
