Is it emerald who has /is about to cancel Sky? Plus info for others thinking the same.

We cancelled our totally FREE package including Movies and Sport for the 27th of last month as otherwise it would have been charged. We had 4 months FREE everything, then a break for 2 wks or so. Then they offered us 6m FREE everything & when I called to cancel at end of month 5 they offered us another 6m FREE everything. Over last 15.5 months we have had FREE everything.

When this subscription was coming to an end, sadly they didn't offer us FREE anything but we were told we could have a new HD box if we paid £13.50 a month for a year - for the full entertainment package, no sport or movies. I declined this. Yesterday someone from Sky phoned and asked if we'd like the entertainment package at 75% off £6.75pm. I asked if we could have a new box with this but he said he'd have to get someone to call us back on that. (our box sometimes tells us something on our watch list is about to start when it's over).

OK phone call today offering new box for £13.50pm contract 12m. Told lady we were offered £6.75 yesterday. LONG WAIT......... on phone. Came back and offered full entertainment package (no movies/sport) + new box for £6.75 for 12m.

Shame it's not with movies & sport but I think we have a pretty good deal.

We have NEVER paid full price for Sky - we had a great deal when it was installed, many years ago. £6.75 is about the most we've EVER paid BUT we needed a new box & I think this is as good as or near to the best deal for a new box we're going to get.

We'll see what they offer next February when we call to cancel?

For all those thinking of cancelling Sky - just be prepared to be without it for a couple of weeks or more, until you get a phone call. Be nice to them & just tell them you're on a budget, yes, you'd love to have it but circumstances mean your money goes elsewhere.

It's worked extremely well for us - it could do the same for you!

Hi yes it was me. I decided to buy a youview twin tuner recorder in the end as we don t watch many sky channels so won t really miss it.

I have white coat syndrome. BUT knowing this actually helps and the readings don't come out nearly as high these days, especially as they know to just spring it on me rather than announce that they will be taking my BP shortly
