Just back from GP to get results from my 24 hr Blood Pressure check from last week.Confirmed what I knew all along. I have white coat syndrome!

The first reading was in the surgery and it was sky high and it then stayed within the average band right through the working day. It surged at 5pm when I decided to do a home blood pressure check to see if my home reading coincided with the test results. That was a self fulfilling prophesy........I even get high BP at home when I'm taking my own BP. Through the night it was perfect and then surged at 8am when I was in A picking up my C and C:rotfl: the reading was actually being taken as the young SA was getting in a muddle over my Radox hand washes. The top reading Rose about 20 points:eek: Proof in itself that this glitching business is stressful:eek:

Just makes you wonder how many people are on BP medication unnecessarily just because they are unable to give normal readings with their GP and like me suffer acute anxiety when faced with a trip to the GP.

What does white coat syndrome mean then pls ?

:rotfl: I thought oh no, I hope it's not serious when I read that too thinking it was something to do with white blood cells:o.
Then the penny dropped:o:rotfl:...white coat syndrome as in Dr's in white coats.... Raised blood pressure etc, just because your stressed, worried at being at the Dr's surgery

A friend of mine was 8 months pregnant, asked her partner to take her for her antenatal checkup at the Dr's... He was stuck at work so she had to take the bus, which was running late due to traffic, she rushed to the surgery then spent the weekend in hospital because the midwife was worried her Blood pressure reading was too high.......
