  • Having 9 years or 25 years will not make a jot of difference to your premium.

I can't think of the underwriters name but there is only one I knew of that recorded up 12 years, so I'm afraid you are wasting your energy and time worrying about it.
  • Hi, a question relating to house insurance from forum newbie. Looking to renew contents only at this time, purely to do with bad timing on my part. I have been told by current contents insurer that as I contacted them last year regarding a water leak which they then told me needed claiming against buildings, that I need to declare this as a claim on contents policy as this is classed as 'loss no claim made'. Is that correct?

I declared 10 years no claims to my new insurer. If they get a form stating 9 years and then I need to claim there's the potential for them to refuse to pay up. I'm not fussed about a discount at the start of the agreement, as I was happy enough with the price, more for everything matching up to give them no excuse for not paying out if necessary.
  • Its a total industry rip off by any measure even [opinion] by cartel. If NCB is a something which a driver is rewarded with for very year they’re on the road without making a claim on their car insurance, then my NCB is 42 years. Proving it however is difficult because in my case I have had a habit of throwing away each year last years mound of paper [evidence] waste.

    - I started keeping that evidence 4 years ago
    - I insured 2011/12/13/14 with company A
    - in 2012/13/14/15 I asked them for a statement of NCB evidence, they waffled and refused until I leave them
    - last month I left them for company B, but repeatedly asked for statement by phone & email
    - eventually reluctantly I received in writing NCB for 12 years, it should be 13, but I'll accept it
    - gave it to company B same and old same old answer "our maximum NCB is 9 years and this is what will be shown on our documents"
    - and "if you send us proof of 12 years no claims bonus we will store this on your file and when you leave us we will be able to confirm the total no claims bonus you have at that time"

Anyone here any experience of a discount on :

    - which insurer will give a real discount on '5 consecutive years no claims bonus'
    - challenging the practice of not recording the actual real no claims years

Varies by company but once you get past 5 or 6 years the savings get marginal.
Pity - I was hoping for a 101% NCD :rotfl:
