Last stage of Right to Buy application

Hi, could anyone who has recently completed a Right to Buy application, tell me how much longer I will need to wait before the sale is completed.
I have been told by the council that my application has finally been sent to the legal department, Friday just gone.
I originally made the application in April 2013, it has taken so long to get to this stage, I'm so anxious.

If John is dealing with it 2 to 3 weeks. If Mary is dealing with it 4 to 5 weeks.
If anyone else, it could be any length of time.0 -
unfortunately securityman is basically right, all you can do is chase the Council and hope you get someone who will help you.
Once the Council gets all its paperwork sorted then it should go fairly quickly, especially if you have your funds ready to go.
Right to buys normally complete on a Monday here.Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

You don't say where you are in the process.
Have you received an offer price from the council/HAT which includes your discount (Section 125 Notice)? If so the clock is running!, you've got 32 weeks from the date of this offer to complete the deal, contact your solicitor to see what the hold-up is.
If you're still waiting for the offer call your landlord , they've got to give you this within 8 weeks from RTB2 ;the letter confirming you have RTB..0 -
You should have served a Notice of Delay on them long time ago. To quote Housing Act 1985 Part V you can serve this notice:
'153 (e)where the tenant considers that delays on the part of the landlord are preventing him from exercising expeditiously his right to buy'.
You've waited nearly a year- not exactly expeditious, was it?
I am in the same boat, but at least having served the notices I will have my rent taken off the final price of the property.
You should hand RTB6 to them, just in case- you never know how much longer they will delay.
After you serve RTB6 on them they have 1 calendar month to finalise. If they don't they'll owe you rent (you'll need to submit RTB8 for this to happen).

or if you fancy reading some headache-inducing legalese:

I'm at the last stage of the application, council have now sent a letter to me stating.
"We have instructed Legal Services, to prepare the legal documents for the sale to complete. Our legal services will contact your solicitors shortly. All matters regarding completion should now be dealt with directly through your solicitor."
Thanks for your advice Mokka,
Can I still serve a notice of delay the RTB 6?0 -
If they say 'shortly' maybe that's what it would be. Is your mortgage offer about to expire?
If so you should speak to your solicitor to speed things up.
Or call Legal Services and ask how long 'shortly' is?
If more than a month I would definitely go ahead with RTB 6- you can always serve it if they are delaying- it's your right.0
