Washing machine U/G and a slug that blew the MB

Can anyone give me some advice?
We recently bought an Indesit washerdryer, well 4 months ago now and all went well, until stage left enters Mr Slug
I think we might consider this an unfortunate appearance, for he made his way into the machine and blew the motherboard.
The engineer threw down his tools and declared the slug as a "pest" and drew up a bill for £110 +vat before he'd do anymore.
There is nothing in the Indesit terms that refers to pests (or slugs).
http://www.indesitservice.co.uk/repair-terms-and-conditions/
But it's a warm functional kitchen, how can a curious slug cause such damage, surely the machine should have offered a little more protection, is it so vulnerable?
The place where we bought it, kindly talked to their rep, who talked to someone in Hotpoint ( apparently HP and Indesit are the same) and just came back to say, they'd give us £20 off the price of repair, i.e. still over £100.
Have I any consumer rights to protect me, so has Mr Slug cost me £100.

I started off with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

It is not a fault with the machine. Could maybe claim on your insurance, but unlikely to be worth it for £100.000

This would probably cover the problem. The guarantee does not cover:
Accidentally damaged
-Damage that occurs suddenly as a result of an unexpected and non-deliberate external action0 -

Shaun - the bit you are quoting is from the section regarding 'Non-Domestic Usage Policy'. I nearly quoted it myself!
The second line pretty much says what it needs to about the circumstances under which they will repair or replace:your appliance is proven to be defective because of either workmanship or materials
I wouldn't expect a guarantee for a washing machine to enumerate all the circumstances under which it could not be invoked eg being used as a concrete mixer, toddler pouring super-glue in the soap dispenser or a slug navigating his way to the mother board and frazzling himself to a crisp. For accidents you have contents insurance.

Only hope is that the slug had some kind of 3rd party liability insurance . . . guess not:(0
