Ok,thanks all for the advice and PM's.
I'm not around to have much of a play in the next couple of days, but will order the hard drive, give the computer a much needed clear out and be back next week if I get completely stuck.
I have a laptop and if all else fails a relative's computer to write things to disc on.
Watch this space, I'm pretty sure I'll be back and clueless in no time at all.
