Help needed "lost" bank transfer

Hi
I hope you can help, I asked DH and he just ranted at me- aparently "not at me" but it felt like that:mad:

Months ago (will have to hunt through pages of online statements to find it) I payed a sub to a professional organisation by direct bank transfer.

A couple of months back they wrotes aying I hadn't payed. I emailed them as follows:

Hi
I have received a reminder today that you have not received my annual subscription.
This was paid by direct bank transfer on 5/2/07 and I have confirmed with my bank that all details on this payment were correct as per the original payment request of Oct 06 (ie bank account sort code xx-xx-xx account xxxxxxxx).
Please would you check you records.
Yours sincerely

Obviously I put the codes in, I have blanked them here:rotfl:

What do I do now? DH suggest pay them and then worry about getting the money back, but I reckon they should bl**dy well check their records as I bet the have it- i have paid quite a few things by transfer and noting has gone AWOL yet. THey obviously took NO notice of my previous email.

Shall I start nagging the bank too, or leave that till I get a yay or nay from the association concerned?

Thanks
anonymousie

Did you quote your membership details as a reference, otherwise how will the organisation know that the payment was yours?

Have you checked your statements to ensure they have not bounced back your payment in the interim because they could not identify it?

I'm not sure they can simply bounce it back...
We always hear on these forums of people receiving unrecognised money into their accounts and the bank refusing to help identify its source. If like was as simple as requesting it just be 'bounced back', then we would hear that as a solution.

Chances are, the company received your money but did not associate it with you (most likely because of you failing to set your account number as the reference field value). They keep the money (as they don't have much other choice)...
Wait for a reply from them, they'll probably now notice they have it.

The payment went with my membership no as the reference, just as they asked on the instructions, so they should have linked it to me with ease.
