Hi, I know that only the cellular (4g) model of the Ipad air has GPS built in. But does the GPS function without a SIM card inserted?

GPS doesn't need a cellular signal, so will work regardless of the SIM being present. However initial location determination may be slower, as cellular signals can be used to speed up the process.0

Thanks Tadley, I hoped that was the case. I've never had an iPad before so didn't want to buy one if I couldn't use GPS out of phone signal range. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0
