I've read somewhere that the k750i and the w800i are basically the same phones, but with slightly different software.

This thread http://www.expansys.com/ft.aspx?k=74234 tells you all about the w800i upgrade, to be honest I wouldn't risk it. Maybe I'm too cautious!

The forum's really useful too. :)

I love my k750i! I was going to upgrade but the SE phones out right now aren't that much better.

These phones are prone to breaking, the pins where you plug the charger in are very fragile. I know 2 people with these phones and both have broken

i've actually had problems with the charger breaking, the 2 pins from the charger got stuck and couldn't contact the phone.

w800i software would be better for music, but i still like the homepage key of the k750i, easily deals with missed calls and texts :D

FYI My teenage son has had a K750i since last December and is *very* happy with it. Works great and the autofocus camera gives half decent photos.

If you are already on O2 you can get 10% of the value of your tops ups (past 2 years or since last upgrade I think) back and use it as discount off the phone or credited to your account in call time.

You need to phone to get the discount - so no quidco - but if you spend a lot on topups it might be worth it.

Got one of these last week form Carphone warehouse for £49.96 after a great deal of haggling and price matching and trading in an old Sendo I had lying around. But it was a sim free (no branding - unlocked) so can't moan. So far it's knocking the spots off my old K510i (£34.95 trade in from Mopay - I hope, sent it yesterday).
All the World is a Stage; and I'm going through a difficult one at the moment!

Is it the 2 plastic pins sticking? If so you need to bend the charger downwards (well sort of down and away) to get it off properly. It does state this in the handbooks.

How do you upgrade it to w800i?

if your phone is CID49 (most new ones), just get the W800i main firmware from here, and XS++ from here.

follow the rest of the guide here. ignore the bits about custom packs and the FS (file system) and patches. You just flash the main to the phone. when its done disconnect the cable and take the battery out for a couple of mins, then put it back in and power it up. you should see a startup menu.

if XS++ hangs on finishing flash, look here

if you want the k750i firmware back, just get a k750i main firmware and flash it back.

I ordered this phone on Saturday evening but have just had an e-mail saying it is out of stock.
