It's been bugging me for a while that these sites have often offered the same prize (similarly to IPC mags) but there were no T&Cs on show that stated whether they had a shared prize fund or one prize per mag.
Yesterday I messaged BEST with this query:
Hi,
I have been entering your daily prize draws and I notice that some other magazines in the Hearst Group, notably All About You and Reveal, are also offering prize draws for the same prizes. For example, there is a competition on Best to win one of 5 Rubber Sole vouchers, and there are identical competitions on AAY and Reveal.
My question is - is each competition independent? - i.e. are there 15 Rubber Sole vouchers in total to be won across the 3 titles, or is the prize fund shared?
Today I have received this reply from them:
The reply to your query follows:
Hi,
These competitions are run jointly across Hearst Magazines UK sites, therefore only one entry is needed.
It's a bit ambiguous, I certainly won't be making just one entry to any of them (either in total or per day!) but I take it that this means they definitely are a shared prize fund.
I think they ought to make their T&Cs clearer, like they do on the IPC mags where they clearly state it is running concurrently across 7 mags, and one winner will be chosen from all entries on all sites.

Oops I always enter each comp on each mag - so I have obviously been disqualifying myself!:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0
-
In that case we'd all be disqualifying ourselves.
There's nothing to say you should only enter once...0 -
thats a bit general isnt it only enter once-do we disqualify ourelves or notWhat goes around-comes around0
-
I kind of took it to mean you only need to enter from one mag, but I'm going to email them back to clarify exactly what they meant!0
-
I think it has to be once per day entries. If you try to enter twice in one day it tells you you've already entered and won't let you enter again.
So it is set up to prevent over entering. I would therefore assume that all entries count.
Blu XI am brave, I am bruised

THIS IS ME!
When you talk down to others it says more about you than them.0 -
Thing is I enter comps from all the mags from Marie Claire to Best, Pick Me Up etc - it would be so confusing if some mags allow you to enter across the mags and others don't!:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0

This is bad news to learn that Hearst also share their prizes as other magazines do. I just switched to this magazines dailies assuming that they don't share prizes as IPC mags. That is disappointment. So basically there are no magazines which have their own prizes?0
