I agree, and lie was perhaps not the best word for me to use, but you have not been truthful in your application by not reading what you were signing up to carefully, as shown by those screenshots.0 -
One way of looking at this is that you have learnt a really important life lesson. Insurance is only valid if you comply with their T&Cs and are completely honest in your answers to any questions.
You were incredibly lucky the bill is only £2,000 - suppose you have something a bit more serious. It could easily have been £50,000 or £100,000 or more.
As a result of this experience, you will be mega-careful in future to make sure you understand and comply with the T&Cs of any insurance you take out and this future carefulness will probably save you £thousands in future (compared with a current laissez faire attitude).0
