Insurance Claim For FLOODING

Hi we have just recieved a letter from Churchill Home Insurance and it states we have to list items of damage & value but what about skirting boards and also there is now DAMP in base units in the kitchen {how do we value these}?

Can we claim do you think on the washer & dishwasher ?

Well if the damage is a result of the flooding then yes, you can claim. The skirting board and kitchen units will be under your buildings insurance cover. Many people get buildings / contents from same firm but sometimes a separate firm is used for each.

We got flooded and had to claim for various items, thankfully we managed to keep the water from the front room but it got in the hallway and kitchen. We were concerned about using our dishwasher, washing machine, fridge and freezer and our insurers had someone come and test all electrical items.

Our fridge and freezer passed and i think out dishwasher did but our washing machine didnt pass. He said that it could just be the dampness that was making it fail the test so he came back either the next day or next week to test again by which time it then passed the test.

We had to claim for our kitchen units as ours were at the time the older style ones where the actual side of the carcass went right to the floor. Unlike the current type where you have legs so there is a fair gap underneath.
