Don't have any debt now, :j but mortgage:eek: but need serious structural work on our garden. We've saved £15 k but need to borrow another £10 k but the mortgage company say that to extend our mortgage, the extra would be at a much higher percent.
Wondering if there's a way of doing it for 0 interest? We are confident we could repay in 20 months.
Grateful for any advice. Ps my husband has a great credit history unlike me

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/credit-cards/balance-transfer-credit-cards#moneytransfer has details of interest-free cards that allow money transfers, but they'll typically charge a 4% fee, so you'd need to weigh that up against the mortgage or other options....0

If the former, then that will affect your husband's chances of obtaining the card and/or getting a high enough limit...assuming the mortgage is in joint names or you're otherwise financially associated, ie through a joint current account or loan?0 -
Which type of structural work on a garden costs 25K? I would like a garden makeover but doubt it would cost more than 5K at the absolute maximum.0

Can you find a contractor who accepts card payments? Most of them can be paid through Paypal if necessary.0

It's not a "garden makeover" we have serious structural problems if not dealt with will end with our patio being in the river. We are 5 metres above it with a retaining wall that is not retaining. It requires steels, concrete galore and 2 men working for 6 weeks. If it was just a case of planting a few daffs yes it'd be a lot cheaper;)0 -
Thank you for the advice, I will look in to mbna and also speak to our mortgage provider.
My credit score is low but I am debt free now. The mortgage etc is all in hubby's name so we aren't "linked" financially as such.0
