Hi all


I am going to the Node Park resorts for a week in August with my two children (8 & 9). We will be travelling from London on the train and just wanted some tips on the easiest way to travel....especially as I will be carrying all the luggage!!!!


I am thinking about travelling to Portsmouth and staying for a night to break the journey up. So would be grateful if anyone could recommend a hotel....either near the station or near the ferry terminal.


In terms of catching the ferry - is it best to book in advance? Can we just wander up? The nearest port to the resort is Fishguard and I am assuming I can get a ferry from Portsmouth to there (will check the website!).


I presume I can get a taxi from Fishguard to the resort.


How much of a nightmare will the journey be? It's just me and the kids so I don't want lots of waiting around or having to carry bags for miles?


Any advice gratefully received.

Hi, do you mean you are going to stay at Nodes Point? If so the Lymington ferry is not really any good as that goes to Yarmouth,(wrong side of the Island) not Fishbourne.

If you are travelling by train, you need to come to Portsmouth and Southsea station, walk to the end of the platform and you are at the terminal for the fast cat to the Island. The cat takes about 15 mins from Portsmouth and you can then get a bus from Ryde to Nodes Point (i think it is route number 8, but do check this out)

The station that you require is Portsmouth Harbour not Portsmouth and Southsea.

yes it is Nodes Point. I know its not until August but I am a worrier and like to know what I'm doing - especially with the children in tow!


So it sounds fairly straightforward - am I correct in thinking then that the station is close to the ferry terminal? I won't need a bus or taxi to transfer?

Walk to the harbour end of the platform, You then be entering the ferry terminal, just follow the signs.
