A friend of mine has been in active military service and has more scars to show for that than areas of skin without scars. 'Nothing' came of the causes of those - why? because they were reported and treated properly - whether they seemed minor or not.

When he had an accident at work he reported it. Not because he thought anything would come of it. But because that IS what you should do.

From my reading of this you are losing your toe because of the bone infection. Which isn't simply from the trolley accident but the fact it wasn't properly checked and sorted afterwards before it started to noticeably be bad. That will factor in somewhat to the employers liability and reduce it.
