Is there any point filling out the paperwork?

On Friday, my partner received a letter from Halifax stating that he may have been mis-sold PPI on a loan he took out from them many, many years ago.
My question is this.....he paid off only most of this loan, the remaining £700(ish) was placed on a DRO that he has recently been discharged from. Does this mean he can't, realistically, make a claim?
He's not going to fill out the forms they have given him as he feels they will just laugh at him (and also he can't remember the most basic of information, like how much the original loan was for!!)
Any thoughts appreciated :D

  • DH discharged from DRO three years ago. I rang Halifax in January to make a claim on his behalf. They sent a form which I never got around to filling in. Yesterday he got a letter advising a chq is on its way. Hope that helps.

  • Bank does have the right to set off debt written off, but it's not guaranteed what they will decide to do.
OP should fill in the form, but his complaint may not even be upheld….
