Ereader with password protection

Options
Are there any ereaders which can be password protected? I currently have a Kobo Glo, which I love but it can be opened by anyone as it has no password feature. I am going on holiday with my Mum - she doesn't know the meaning of privacy and I'd rather she didn't see the type of books I read :o
Don't judge people on they way they look, the way they speak or what they're called because they can't help that.

Only judge people on what they say and what they do.

Two options I can think of.

First is o go for a tablet with an ereader programme. All the major ones can be downloaded for free ie kindle.

Downside is they will have shorter batter life, and the screen is not electronic ink. Plus side is they do a lot more (and can be locked)

Second option is to get what you want but RENAME the books to rather dull topics and set up a complex folder and subfolder system which she wont have a clue about.

That way shades of grey turns into 18th century applications for the wheat and chaff industry. Until you start reading it.

My old Kindle (the b&w version with the physical keyboard) had password protection.

I'd assume the later models do too, or you could pick up an older model off ebay.
  • For the kindle:
    "To set your Kindle password:

    1. Navigate to Kindle’s Home screen and press the Menu button.
    2. Select “Settings” from the Home screen menu.
    3. Select the “turn on” option next to Device Password on the Settings page.
    4. Enter your new password twice and also enter a hint to help you remember the password.
    5. Select “Submit” when you’re finished.

If you wish to change or turn off your password in the future, navigate to the Settings menu again and select the available options."
Thank you, Google. I dropped in "kindle password" - other ereaders may be as cooperative!

I already use a tablet but the screens too shiny for reading outdoors and I really don't want a Kindle as I don't like the restrictions in place. Most of my books are in epub format and I'd prefer an ereader that can support that file type, although I use Calibre and can convert my library if I have to. It just feels wrong - I've avoided Apple and Kindle for so long (I'm an android kind of gal).

And ukjoel - I prefer my smut to be much better written than 50 shades of gray...:D

    Why not transfer your "good" books onto a memory card then set up either the Kobo or a second card with a few "standard book {free } that way you can remove the "good" card when you are away from your reader and no one will be any wiser as to what you choose to read. After a few practices removing the card will become second nature {ie a microsoft cloth to insure that any sun lotion is not on the reader could be used to cover the removal}
