Have you been in hibernation or in Outer Mongolia? Most regular ebay users already know this & were well aware of the starting date regarding commission on p&p long beforehand.

There have been lots of petitions etc. about it from before it even began & goodness knows how many complaints to MP's, Watchdog, Newspapers etc, all to no avail. Ebay's profits have soared, so of course they are very happy with the outcome & not likely to back down unless legally challenged.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • Trouble is no other selling platform has their reach. TBH 10% isn't a bad commission to pay for an auction, just annoying about the postage if you aren't thinking about it!

I have got it blocked in all the right places. I have no idea how they get round it but they do seem to. In the same way that several sellers purport to come from the UK but are actually in China. I did nearly get caught by that recently.

They get around it by adding a UK address and making it their primary address, but then when paying, changing the address on payment to send to the address on your block zone. I had someone do that to try to get me to post to Brazil which was on my blocks.

It doesn't matter if you have their country on the block, if they have a UK primary address on file at the time of the bid or bin they can get round any buyer blocks doing this.

They shouldn't charge commission on postage at all.

Delayed outrage is well worth it.
    To summarise the other thread

    It's illegal.
    No it's not.
    It's outrageous.
    Not really.
    It's Ebay just profiteering.
Erm, yes that's what businesses do.
Sign my petition, that will stop them.
    No it won't.
    Some people are better off.
    I'll never use Ebay again.
    OK. bye.
I've just noticed Ebay charging postage on fees, it's outrageous.

    Repeat 15 times.

So in short, if you use Ebay either live with it or sell stuff elsewhere.

You forgot the 'My solicitors have assured me they are in talks with ebay and this won't go ahead- so watch this space' , not sure what happened with that one.
