Hi all,
I'm knocking up a computer for the kids and would like to know the cheapest (online) places to get a mid range graphics card (AGP). I don't need anything fancy, just cheap.
Thanks for looking

What sort of price are you looking for? You can get an FX 5200 for £20ish, or spend £150+ on a 7800.
Dabs AGP cards."I'm not even supposed to be here today."0 -
Scan and Dabs are two reputable suppliers.
Scan have the Palit 7600 GS for £73.14 delivered. It's probably a reasonable compromise between being fairly cheap and yet not too slow.0 -

Dabs AGP cards.
I'm looking for the £50 mark.0 -
Then I'd do what Mobeer suggested and get a 7600GS for £57.53."I'm not even supposed to be here today."0

What will they be using the PC for*, & what OS will be installed? If it's for normal Windows tasks (i.e., not for dedicated games/3D tasks) & WinXP or earlier go for the cheapest one. Check the motherboard - it may have integrated graphics, which'll be more than sufficient. Even a real cheapo 32Mb card off eBay will be good enough. If you're unsure about compatibility, ask here before bidding/purchasing. G

I don't need it to play the latest games, but even the kiddie games require more than the onboard graphics. I just want to make sure it'll take them through the next 3 years before I have to shell out. I'm building them a machine from bits I have kicking about.

An ATI Radeon 9550 for £33-35 excl del should be fine if they are the kiddies games I'm thinking of:

http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/63693
For just over the £50 mark, these 7600GSs with free del would do rather nicely too (but may be overkill):
http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/119716 - £54
http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/127244 - £55
Any in this eBay search would do OK too (depending on the games played). Always ensure it's AGP before bidding/buying.
Can you tell us the names of the games going to be played, & the rest of the PC spec (CPU, etc) including the OS & power supply wattage? G0
