Hi everyone,
Just here to pick someones brain. Is there anyone out there that can put me out of our misery please.
I have a picture frame ovel in shape and the size of the picture will be needed is: 40x50cm / 153/4 x 19 3/4" So we want out picture we had taken which is on our SD card just blown up to this size. I looked on asda website but there size settings are either to big or to small and I am not that techie to break the size down right and dotn wnat to get it wrong as it will cost a tenner.
Is there a shop or place where I can say right I want this picture blown to this size please to fit this frame????
Thank you for any advice given. Much appriciated.

Blowing up the pic is easy, what the quality is going to look like is another matter. Plenty of online site's you use, or download something like gimp
Is it a picture you have taken, if so do you know what the current size is. If it was taken on a small point an shoot camera with low setting, then blowing utpo that size may look awfulMansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -
The picture was taken professionally but we have no contact with them now. The size is 2400x3000 whatever that is?
The quality is good. we just need it to fit in the frame even if the picture is not as big just enough to fill the frame up enough if you get me but with the white backgound so it fits fully.
Asda blow pics up on canvas and pictures sizes bigger so it can be done ok, but we can not get one done in the size we want or close, thats our problem. Boots only go up to a certain size too which falls just short of what we need.
Just wondered what shops were best to go to in the highstreet or any in north kent?
Thank you0 -

That's the horizontal and vertical size of the image measured in pixels, so 2400 x 3000 is a 7.2 Megapixel image. If as you say it is a good quality image to start with, that size might just be capable of being printed at 40 x 50 cms and retain acceptable quality, but it's pushing it a bit.... I would use ms paint, it has a resize feature.
You need to look at what physical size it says the image is then resize by a percentage based on how much larger it needs to be.0 -
You need a final print resolution of not less than 300 dpi to get a reasonable result, I doubt if you'll achieve that at a size of 400x500mm. That's not far off A2.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Hi thank you for the info.
Can you or is there a place that will blow the picture up in size to fill a portion of what we need for the frame but have the rest of the picture as the white background so it fits in the fram ok and we can cut it round to slot in.
So the sizes I mentioned above for frame, but have the actual photo image a decent size to put in it but have the surround so it fills the frame, hope I am explaining myself. Or we would have to have the pic blown up a bit and then add a backing behind the picture would look crap.
Thanks again.0 -
this normally does an excellent job and enlarging photos. If the quality and detail are not there, then it could be an issue in whatever you use
