Smart Parking @ ASDA

Hello all!

I’ve had quite an interesting read these past few days thanks to this forum (and I also discovered PepiPoo thanks to you, another benefit) but I’m starting to get a little lost. I’ve tried finding something like my case but I can’t seem to find anything that is relevant to me.

I went to ASDA the other day and because I’m lazy I pulled into a disabled bay right next to the store entrance but for the most part the car park was dead. There was about 18 disabled bays unoccupied so I’m not sure you could say I was taking it from someone who truly needed it, if it was the last bay I’d have parked somewhere completely different.

After doing my shop I came back to see the little invoice stuck to my screen (which left some horrific residue that I had to spend two hours getting off) saying I now had the pleasure to pay £75 for parking in a disabled bay without showing a valid Blue Badge. Being a bit annoyed I tore the ticket up and chucked it in the bin, which looking back on was my second mistake of the day.

From what I’ve read the Blue Badge scheme doesn’t operate on Private Property so there is no such thing as a valid Blue Badge for ASDA car parks, is this correct?

I’ve sent an email to the CEO’s office that’s now being investigated by one of his minions but if it turns to nothing what would my options be? Because I tore the ticket up I’ve noticed I can’t appeal until they send me the NTK anyway, so if it comes to it, how would I appeal this?

If I have missed something (such as a post or a thread) that is relevant to me, could you link me please? I want to try and do as much of this on my own without being a burden to you guys.

Thanks a bunch

  • What you seem to have misunderstood is that "your case itself is totally irrelevant" So basically your own personal situation matters not

  • As above for advice -but

However - please do respect that disabled bays are there for a reason and not to use because you are lazy!

In the short space of time I was in the shop I doubt 18 disabled people would be visiting (less than 20 minutes). If it was the last one, I'd have parked elsewhere.

I bet everyone who misuses disable bays has a similar lame excuse. All the information on how to deal with parking charges is on the forum in one thread or another. With your attitude, though, I don't expect you'll be getting a lot of personalised help.

Would you like me to cry and start having a breakdown regarding my misuse of a disabled bay on private land? It’s a mistake and it happens. I’m sure you’re so perfect.

No-body's perfect - but I think you may be over-reacting here just a tad. The point I made was just regarding the use of a disabled bay - when clearly you do not have the need for it.

Don't take it personally - and of course you will receive the help required from the forum for an appeal - but please do remember that disabled bays are there for a purpose. You claimed around 18 disabled bays were free (your word only for that assumption) and then 17/18 other cars all rolled up after you with your attitude and parked - then a genuine disabled person needed to park .....

Well your laziness now means you have some work to do. I'm too lazy myself to spell out what that work should be but it is all in the NEWBIES thread.

So you now have a few hours work all for the sake of not walking a few extra yards.
