What are the legalities of this?

I was just updating those interested in the subject. I dont feel it's right to be able to advertise closing down sales if you're not closing down . especially if nothing is reduced in this sale because everything is on sale always at the same 'closing down' price.
I don't think it warranted either reply above. Sometimes if you've got nothing constructive to say it may be better not to post. Its clear that you have no interest in this whatsoever so I don't know why you feel the need to reply.
Thanks in advance to those who can shed some light on this.0 -
It is legal. Why do you think it isn't?
Also trading standards wont get involved in personal cases, they'll just file it and really only investigate if they receive numerous complaints.0 -
Looks a bit chavtastic to meSquirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
Apologies for posting here. I genuinely thought more people would be interested to know that they're being conned into thinking they're getting a good deal because of a closing down sale, which doesn't exist.
Can someone close the thread?0 -
Theres an xplicit italia at derby Westfield. There were 2 shops i think, one did genuinely close after several closing down sales, and the other i think is still there with its eastern bloc staff. Don't think its had a closing down sale this month.0

People are not being conned into anything...buyers pay a price that they think is acceptable. A 'Closing Down Sale' sign outside pulls the customers in, they will buy if they think the price is good and not because of the impending closure.
Anyway maybe there is a sound legal reason the shop has re-opened...No body can answer your question as know one knows what is going on within this business...If it's bothering you so much try going in and ask the manager. Be prepared to be told it's none of your business though!0 -

Lying about closing down when you're not would most certainly be an offense of some sort... i'm one of the major chains got in to trouble for misleading signs of similar nature in the not so distance past - can't remember which though.
But we don't know the full circumstances so it's hard to determine if it's deliberate or what0
