Does anyone have any ideas for a short term fencing fix approx 10 metres length - could be a low as 1 metre high. We need to save up to replace fence and posts once and for all, but wondered if anyone had any good ideas to plug the gap in the meantime. Not all of the fence has come down at the moment, just a couple of panels and posts rotted.

Chicken wire if it's just about keeping little things like toddlers in temporarily.

can't you fix up from what you have make some short pointy posts from the broken ones hammer them in patch up the panels.
Google temporary fencing found this cost around £25-30 and reusable.

Is it for security, privacy or both?
We've used split bamboo screening to increase the height of the section of 4' fencing belonging to the neighbour. Gives a bit more privacy than the garden fencing, and if there's no panel to prop it against, you could always put a few horizontal pieces of wood to attach it to - or even stretch garden wire/string between the posts.0 -
As a long term solution i'm going for planting small bushes. I've done a temp bothched up job fixing my broken fence panels and have started to plant an assortment of fruit bushes from the £shop, in 2/3 yrs they should be big enough to start covering the old fence.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Keep an eye on the local Freecycle as well. We got quite a large length of wire fencing recently, the guy had to open a new roll of the fence to finish the last couple of metres. He gave the rest away and was glad to see the back of it.Bern :j0

Old bedsteads? It can look quite good. Or not. Depending on taste and what you can get. http://www.flickr.com/photos/spidra/6747068987/in/photolist-bhduxD-adoWyn-65SWtk-28SkGY-cnvv7Y-ez44bY/lightbox/
