relocating boiler condensate pipe

we need to have the boiler condensate and relief pipe rerouted by about 1ft lower to allow the pipes to slope under floor boards to reach the external wall. currently they go above floor board covered by the bath panel (we are getting rid of the bath and changing to shower tray).

does it need to be a gas safe plumber only who can reroute the pipes or can a competent plumber (non gas) do this?
work is being done by a interior company and I don't think they realized at the time of costing the job this work, hence I presume they wont want to pay a gas safe (if required) fitter to this.

thanks

  • Are you fitting new pipes from the boiler or extending the originals?

it will just be extending them for reroute, no touching of fittings to boiler

No problem. Any reasonably competent person can do it.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
  • I would recommend Gas Safe as the condensate pipe is connected to the boiler combustion chamber and flue system.

Any fault in the condensate pipe could lead to carbon monoxide leaking into the house. I certainly wouldn't want a 'bathroom fitter' doing it.

Any fault on the condensate pipe will stop the boiler working,
Get ether a GSI or a qualified plumber to do it, wouldn't recomend a bathroom fitter do it.

Playing devils advocate - why would you not let a bathroom fitter do some very basic level1 plumbing????

seems like some mixed opinion here, I understand if it is the boiler or gas pipes but what is the law on changes supporting non-gas pipework?

as long as the pipework is of same size and keeps a fall what difference can a experienced gas safe service man do vs a experienced bathroom fitter?
