Well I'm definitely meaning respectful and not controlling.
And whilst I agree with you about your 'free range' comment, it's not something I think is reserved and exclusive to toddlers. Everyone is entitled to live as they please, regardless of age, as long as it does not cause harm/discomfort to others. A child jumping on the floor above another's head without any comment from a parent, is not allowing them to live freely but ignorantly and selfishly. It would say more about the adult than the child (and I know this is not the OP since she has said she tries her best to minimise noise and is upset, therefore mindful, of the neighbours point of view.)
We don't have to agree. I'm fine with that.0 -

A 2 year old cannot process instructions or emotions like an adult can, hence tantrums and screaming etc (not that I recall a single tantrum with DD (now 3)). They have lots of energy to expend every day, and doing jigsaws doesn't expend it! I think the OP is doing what she can at present to be respectful to others. I can't imagine her neighbours' children and dogs are quiet 24/7.

I think it obviously depends on the child. I have two girls who had strong communication and processing skills at that age, hence my comment based on personal experience. One of them wasn't a 'jumper' anyway.
I know toddlers are full of beans, hence the need to dispend that energy in appropriate ways. Most 2 year olds don't enjoy jigsaw puzzles anyway!0 -

I didn't say "without comment". We're talking about 1 hour a day of potential noise. We live in a detached house and have noise all day from cars and dogs. During the summer there are kids playing with footballs and bikes. I don't expect the local farmer to be able to move his cows silently. I'd swap all of that for 1 hour of a toddler playing cars!!!Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

My DD loved them! Still does.
Not bothered with dolls, but she loves dressing up and singing at the top of her voice (when she's not jumping off the furniture). She's not noisy all day, but then she's not quiet all day either.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0
