Old Style Daily - Saturday 22nd February
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them.
Still very dark outside as I’m up and enjoying the first cuppa of the day in peace. Looks dry underfoot and a bit blustery, and a maybe some frost.
DH and DS1 up and gone to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was ham, egg, chips and salad for the menfolk. I had ham, egg and jacket potato. Tonight we’re having HM quiche, salad, and jacket potato, may also make some HM bread to accompany.
Yesterday I did get myself into gear a bit more, and visited the bank, did the food shopping, then came home got shopping put away. Did all the ironing that was dry enough, got another load put on the line outside to dry as it was such a lovely day. Changed all the beds and got the boys bedding dry and they put it back on their beds, our bedding is washed and will go on the outside line this morning to dry. Boys also hovered through for me. On today’s list I need to check wash basket for anything else that needs washing – there will be DH and DS1’s work clothes later but I think there may be enough to make up a mixed load of towels and t-shirts this morning – would like to end today with a completely empty wash basket if possible. I will be doing some baking/cooking – I have several things on the list, mostly treats for the tins but then the menfolk have a choice of desserts/treats for pack ups and after dinner during the week. I did a menu plan, checking what I had in stores/freezer that I could use. Food shopping came to more than I wanted but did buy some stock items so it’s not as bad as it seems, fridge/freezer and cupboards are full to bursting. Just need to make sure perishables don’t get wasted. Did pay a visit to MrA – haven’t been in there for a proper shop for at least a year, I’m completely astounded at how they’ve trimmed up their prices – they aren’t as cheap as A**i/L**l but certainly are a lot cheaper than MrT, so anything I need that I can’t get from A**i I will purchase from there from now on. It’s also only a very short distance from A**i so no real extra cost or running around to get the best value.
Payday for me is this week, and am now starting to see the benefits of paying off virtually all our debts, for the first time in a long I can see clearly exactly what we have/don’t have – and know what we have left to be able to finish off what little debts we do have. I want to get this done within the next few months. I had a cashback cheque arrive this week that I’ve been waiting for a couple of months, I banked it yesterday and paid the same amount straight off the credit card – in the past I’d have just wasted it! On payday I will then pay some more off as I’ve worked some extra so I will also pay that amount off too. I will do that each time I work extra. We have an incredibly busy time over the next month – and it does involve going away, the most expensive part of this is already paid for though, but we will have some expenses but now don’t just blow it and then worry about how we’re going to sort it out afterwards, we’re much more in control, and I always have an idea of how much I would like to spend so there’s no nasty shocks later!
It’s taken me so long to type this post it’s now light, clear sky and birds are singing, let’s hope it’s a good dry day!
I need to get a shower and some brekkie, before tackling the “to do” list.
Have a great Saturday everyone x
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Wet and windy (again). The tree chap is supposed to be coming at 9 but I don't know if he will if it's too windy, he is to remove quite a big tree from the back garden.
Had friends round for dinner last night, I made fishcakes and then a gammon joint with veggies. Cheated for desert, just heated an apple pie with ice cream. Had a really good catch up and thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
All clean and tidy here, going to do some long overdue paperwork in a while when I've had a shower. Not sure what's for tea, maybe something lighter as we had such a big meal last night.
Hope you all have a good weekend. Take care. XX0 -
Morning all
Frosty here, we had the heating turned to zero but the radiators were warm when I got up as it's so cold.
Fish fed, hubby fed & dropped at work, I'm about to eat my porridge.
I did the weekly shop at Mr T as I was driving past, £6.41 as hubby is on lates next week.
WM & DW chugging away, I have yarn all over my sofa as I need to sort it out into 'blankets' colours that go together, I need to make a couple of 'girl' blankets as I have 'boy' blankets ready.
Time I got on with some housework.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -

Hi everyone,
I spent most of yesterday like a wet weekend, slept all night and still feel grim, think I must have developed a chest infection after the cold I had. I'm cross because I wanted to go and help DS and GF in their garden but I have no energy for it.
I must put the ys brisket I bought in the SC with some veg to make pot roast because I can't fit it in the freezer if I don't.
Have a good day.0 -
Morning :hello:
The dentist surgery rang yesterday, there's a problem with my impression. My dentist was on holiday last week so couldn't speak to whoever makes dentures/bridges - was going to call him the impressionist but that sounds like a comedian, lol - so he's going to call him first thing on monday to find out what's going on. My appointment has been put off til 3rd March. It's only a week's delay but it feels like forever
I went shopping by myself yesterday. Mr tru dropped me off, went off to do something else then picked me up when I'd finished. I spent a lot less without him there, roll on Morrison's online shopping
It's nice and sunny here, I'll get a few small jobs done in the garden this afternoon.
Crochet this morning. I'm searching for pink yarn, there's loads around but none of it matches the image in my headI'll start another blue blanket in the meantime.

Snoozer feel better soon
Redruby good luck with the handles
I'm out today hubby is treating me to a new handbag and some jeans for my birthday but I need to pick and try on myself.
Then tonight is my bday meal, a different course cooked by each should be fun.
I'm hoping to start a new crochet project today but I've probably forgotten as it's been so long.
Have a lovely day xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Morning all,
Well MIL's funeral went really well yesterday.:A It was a woodland buriel and she had a wicker coffin decorated with cream and purple roses, and spring flowers on top. It was beautiful, she would have loved it. OH managed the eulogy (just) and lots of people came. She was a lovely gracious lady.:T
Going to Eastbourne this afternoon to see Flavia & Vincent in their new show "Dance till Dawn". I bought OH and my friend Helen tickets for Xmas. OH LOVES Flavia!:rotfl:
Going for a meal afterwards.
Lovely and Sunny this morning.
Have a good day.I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Good Morning everyone, and a beautiful spring day here in north Kent. The sun is shining and the sky is blue ,but having stuck my head outside of the back door there is a bit of a chilly breeze blowing which will hopefully dry my small wash that's churning away at the moment.
I have a baking day today, as I have no shopping to get for (fingers crossed ) the rest of the month.
I want to make some carrot and coriander soup for next week as well I peeled the carrots last night so it won't take me long to get them on the stove this morning.
I am just about to put on a large pot of coffee to keep me going through my bake-a-thon:)I like to cook lots of things at one time if I can then the big oven is fully filled and I get my cake and biscuit tins filled for the week as well:):)The rest of the week I use my slow cooker or my remoska for cooking.
Hope you all have a nice day whatever you are doing
Cheers chums
