Final bill from Eon 8 months after switch!

I moved house in April last year. I immediately began a switch from Eon to the energy supplier I was with at my previous property (having had horrendous problems with Eon previously, but that's another story). Switch all went through ok, and I received a bill for roughly £100 for the energy I had used while the switch was going through. I paid said bill.

Then this week I received a 'final bill' 8 months after the switch. Now I thought the bill I had paid back in June was the final bill! but apparently not! The bill I have just received is only for £11 and a few pence, but I feel like waiting 8 months to pay it!

I notice there's an Eon representative on these boards....... Perhaps they can answer what an earth Eon are playing at?

  • What was the end meter reading of the £100 bill you received last year and was it the same as the opening reading you gave your new supplier and is the opening reading on your first bill?

Or is the end reading on this new bill the same as the opening reading?

    Hi yorkshire_terrier_owner

Final bills can sometimes take a little while to sort out if something has gone wrong with the readings. But I do understand your point.:o

When you change supplier, your new supplier should ask for your start reads, these then get sent to the losing supplier via a third party (data collectors) once the reads are verified the losing supplier can produce a final bill.

It would only really normally take this amount of time if there was a dispute on the account, do you know if anything like this was in place, or have you asked us why it has taken so long?

If you need me to help you, it's no problem at all.

    Helena :)
