Totalise ISP - Stay Away!

I have been with the same ISP since 2001 and today I just about blew my top with them.

I used to be a PAYG customer ie had to dail 0845 but when I joined MSE Chat Forum decieded the change to Broadband (Metronet) as I got a quarterly bill for phone £80+ just for 0845 calls. I used them in the past for all internet, e-mail etc.

I have had good service from Totalise but they have recently changed there policy so that you must dial in at least every 35 days or they suspend your account, but if you dial in again they release it. As you have probably guessed I went over the 35 days (no excuse I know).

I therefore change my e-mail settingd for the e-mail and used dial up to release account, but they won't let me as they say I can only collect e-mails with 0845. If I use another way they suspend my account. They have offered me a justmail account for £20.00 per year, but I can get my own e-mail address for a lot less than that (which I have now done).

The e-mail I recieved from them was so patronising its a good job the tech support is an 0870 or it would have cost me another £80.00.

I have sent them an e-mail asking that they release my e-mail accounts for 30 days so that I can transfer all my contacts etc to another e-mail address.

Is it me ranting and raving again or have I missed something. These people seem to think they have you over a barrel, If they are a business and need to make a profit then they certainly won't be making anything more out of me.

Well I feel a little better for that.

anyone had similar problems, love to hear form you?

I had exactly the same issue, and also had a golf website that I published on my personal web site and couldn't access. Like you I had been with them for years ( ever since the free shares offer - which went up the spout).

The funny thing was, they recently had a really good broadband offer, 2 gig for £19 a month +2 free months, which I would have seriously considered if they hadn't played silly beggars with my email access

Totalise sold all its ISP customers to a different company in 2001 hence why the share went bye bye along with many other things
