Family tree..

Bit of a long shot..but I'm looking for anyone in the north of England/scottish borders area/ with the surname Emery. Or anyone who knows someone with that surname! Appreciate in this modern age, my ancestors have probably travelled further south/north over the years. Much appreciated! x

hi lori - I wasted a lot of time while trying to find my husbands grandmother by assuming that like the rest of her family she stayed in the area. totally wrong, at sixteen she was working in London then got married in Wales! I would suggest you widen the search area - even in olden times some people would move far away - even emigrate.

What are you actually trying to find? There are literally hundreds of people with that name in northern England.

Thanks Meritaten! I have got stuff on the Emery side of the family. I just threw the post out there out off curiosity to see if anyone with the surname Emery would get back to me. It would be great to hear from someone with that name and maybe find a connection. Oh, know what you mean about people travelling all over. I'm trying to figure out how my great-grandfather who came from Oxon, Banbury, eventually met up with my great-grandmother who came from Berwick, Scottish Borders? lol

Really? I had no idea. I don't know anyone with the surname Emery!
Maybe I have more relatives than what I thought then, eh! lol
Guess i would like to find anyone that could possibly be related to me and is trying to find there past. Got my maternal grandmothers past back to 1861, and they are all in Berwick area. It would just be brilliant to find someone in the chain who is also tracing the same past! x
  • Have you tried Genes reunited?

If you've got some info to go on there's a possibility that you'll find others who share your family tree.

have you joined Ancestry? they do a free 14 day trial and in that time you may well go back generations.
If you join - then build your family tree onsite with what you KNOW to be accurate. you may then find you get 'hints' which take you to other peoples trees which have the same info on them. Doing this took me a LOOOOONG way! they also allow you to search not just census but births marraiges and deaths, military records, passenger lists for ships (useful if they emigrated), some parish records, and lots of random records which can also be very useful.
