Dd265 I know, I'm very excited. Walls will be repainted and then new carpet, curtains and bedding. Have splashed out on some gorgeous curtains and two matching cushions and then will go fit basic white bedding and accessorise. Finally we are going to replace our wardrobe (which is the one the bloke left in the house when he moved out 17 years ago!) and hoping father in law can build us s new one to fit the gap for just the cost of materials, plenty of coffee and some biscuits.

Only spent 70p today on postage do total so far of £0.70/£30

  • Was supposed to be NSD but bought milk £2.30 for 2x4 litres as was running low.

    £21.25/£55.00:eek:

Taking part in this thread really makes you think about every potential spend. I'm wondering if I will have the money I need/would like for the gifts I need to buy at the end of the wk. on plus point I did find a scarf I bought years ago for mil but never gave her! Guess what she's getting for Mother's Day?;)

  • Evening again everyone

First post finally updated to here.

We had a fab weekend. Bit of a trek going from the midlands to Somerset, but journey there and back was fine. Baba behaved in the car... :D in fact he slept most of both journeys in his new fancy car seat.

We only stayed for one night in the first hotel as it was dirty so we booked into the hotel where the christening party was being held for the second night. I've eaten like a pig over the weekend, but on the plus side hubby paid for it all. :rotfl: saw lots of friends I haven't seen in ages, it was lovely catching up.

I spent £7.50 ish at the christening. But nothing today from this budget.

    Hope everyone's well.

Wow well done on the use of the wardrobe sedge. As much as I like new things, I also begrudge replacing things if they don't need it. Enjoy your new bedroom.... Or does that sound wrong... :rotfl:

  • I am interested in joining the challenge
one trick I do is draw out £35 in five pound notes and put one in my purse each day
I put the loose change in a money box
unless im food shopping I leave debit card at home
also do online banking and do the piggybank technique (martins idea see budget planner- I have 7 different esavings accounts Christmas/emercency/health etc)
and each evening I transfer money to them in rotation just by rounding up the total to say£ 50 or £100
for example the balance in my account was £758.79s
o I transferred the £8.79 to the Christmas fund tomorrow I will transfer to the emergency fund, then, personal savings/holidays /big things(for say washing machine died) / and so on
i always empty change into money box and start with a fresh £5 its surprising how much that mounts up too.
last month had enough to have a Chinese meal .delivered
i live in town so i leave my card at home
so im not tempted to buy stuff
ialso use charity shops for clothes and get the clothes i want put buy so i can think over night whether i need them (again martins advice ...)
money used to be my enemy
but now im having fun with it:beer:
i don't use it for food shopping unless ran out of milk
i think the £1 a day saving idea is great..i do that in December so that on chrismas eve i i have 24 to spend on last minute nick nacks
