Bissell Vacuum Cleaner

We bought a Bissell Vacuum Cleaner from Argos in June 2013 and it's started to have a problem with loss of suction. I've done all the things I should to try and rectify it.
I have phone Bissell customer services and they have told me that as I bought it from Argos I have to return it there, as they are "direct imports" or something like that.
Does anyone know if this is right, or are Bissell just trying to fob me off?

That's correct, just take it back to Argos and ask them to get it repaired under guarantee.0

Sorry I've had a lot on recently.
Just an update, took it back to Argos and they swapped it for a new one. It's slightly different to the other one, but much better and the suction is amazing!Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £18,886.270
