Hello,
I am after your advice regarding a bike rack.
I had a thurle high mount fall of my car and cause some damage last year (it was secured well so I believe it to have been faulty)
Anyway because of this I am looking for a tow bar secured bike rack. My intention is to carry 1 adults bike and two childrens bikes.
I have tried to search on line and have found good reviews for Paddy Hopkirk Quick Ball and Thurle 970 hang on.
Would you be so kind as to give your thoughts on these or if you could recommend any others as the reviews were some time ago.
Thank you very much

Roof mounted or rear? Have a look at the Saris range.0

I bought the Atera Linea for my Touran. Had to make some minor adjustments to make it fit the three bikes easily without the bikes rubbing against each other, but it's solid and secure, and it locks.Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.0

Hollywood racks are about as good as it gets IMO

I have one like this....
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-CAR-TOWBAR-TOWBALL-MOUNTED-FOLDING-2-CYCLE-BIKE-BICYCLE-CARRIER-RACK-/380651976136?pt=UK_Sports_Leisure_Cycling_Bags_Panniers_SR&hash=item58a0a035c8
Mine has yellow padded arms. But it takes seconds to fit and can be locked with a small padlock.
Place over the towball and press the centre down. Thats it. Done. You can also get a version that attaches to a backing plate not the ball itself so you can tow at the same time if your limits allow.
Seen versions with upto 4 bikes.
Dont forget to get a lighting board also.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Looks good but does it come with the bike separators and will it carry kids bikes?
Thanks0 -
Maxxraxx definitely. Worth every penny, and I have had a few bike racks over the years. We bought ours a year ago and have used it alot. I am a bit of a girly when it comes to practical stuff but I can get the bikes on and off in no time at all and it always feels safe and secure.0

The only separators are the ridges on the bars. It will carry kids bikes.
With different designs of bikes its always worth checking. Bought mine for about £20.
Folds to almost nothing.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
1. Spend the money on buying a more expensive bike instead.
2. Keep bike inside car (ideally bike should be worth more than car).
3. Leave kids at home.0 -
Tempted to go for hollywood or maaxraax.
Like the security of nolt on flange fitting.0
