Barclaycard arrangements to pay

I have been in a dmp for 3 years with payplan and have 3 barclaycard debts included in this plan. Three years ago Barclaycard marked these accounts with AP markers which I belive will stay on my credit file for 7 years after the debts have been settled. I phoned Barclaycard today to ask them if they would default these accounts and backdate the default date 3 years, so there would be only another 3 years before they fell off my credit record. Interestingly the lady at Barclaycard said if I withdrew these 3 accounts from my dmp and went back to paying these debts at the normal barclaycard rate the AP markers would be removed immediately. The barclaycard debts are now manageable for me at the normal interest rate as I have paid off £20.000 over the last 3 years, so I am wondering is it worth removing them from the dmp and paying the normal interest rate to get rid of the AP markers and improve my credit record sooner. Advice appreciated.

They stay on your file for 6 years from settled, not 7.
You on a managed DMP or is it self managed?
Not sure what other creditors would think as they are not being treated equally, if they found out.
You could also complain in writing to get the accounts defaulted 3 years ago, that way they will drop off entirely in 3 years.

Its a managed dmp. I removed one of my other credit cards from the dmp last year...the remaining creditors were fine with that0 -
I guess its up to you then
Trouble is, if for any reason you can't meet the contracted payment before they are settled in full, you will get a new default and that will stay for 6 years. Or another set of AP markers.:beer:0 -
Do they perhaps mean that as soon as you go back to the normal (contractual) payments then all future payments will be marked as 'normal' with the CRAs - however this won't be backdated and previous APs will remain on your CRF for six years?
Would be interested to know this.0 -
