Refunds, please help!!!

Hello

I recently made a booking for 17people at Hollywood bowl for myself and some work colleagues. Some of them are not able to make it however, I paid for all the tickets upfront. Looking at the Ts&Cs it states that

"Except as set out below, there are no rights of refund or exchange and you acknowledge that the cancellation rights contained in the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 (as amended) do not apply to the services we offer."

Does this mean that I have to make a loss?:(

Many thanks in advance!

Why should you make a loss? Just because they can't make it, doesn't mean they shouldn't pay you back.
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

either get the people who cannot make it to pay their money or find others to take their places

I'd speak to them directly, they don't have to abide by their own contractual terms if they don't want to. I doubt they'd want to discourage you from making future bookings if you're still going as a large group.

Ask them if you can take a credit note - meet in the middle - that way you can use that credit *next* time you block book.

Last time I booked with Hollywood Bowl and paid up front I was told I could move my booking but couldn't get a refund, so the above might be an option. See if they are willing to move half of your booking?
  • Why should they hold 17 places for you, and then refund you just because some people can't make it? They could have turned other bookings away, so they're not just going to cancel free of charge.
  • Thank you for your help! I'll move it to another time since I'm also going bowling with friends this weekend!:)
