Barclays full PPI breakdown

Hi all, Just wondering if anybody else has experienced this ?

Bit of back story......... I wrote to Barclays for old EGG & Gold mastercard as I felt I was mis sold PPI however it was a flat no go away from them so I took to the FOS who ruled in my favour for the EGG and Barclays agreed to payout in the meantime for the Gold mastercard.

Firstly for gold card they offered me £92 however I had some statements so send copies and the ended up paying me just short of 2K the problem was I worked it out with the statements to be about 1.8K this didnt include 16 months of statements that I had missing so I phoned Barclays to ask if I could have the numbers of the estimated months only to be told I am sorry we dont give out detailed breakdowns and you just have to take our word for it that we have estimated along with the FOS guidelines.
So last week I rang the FOS and asked if it is correct that they dont have to send me the breakdown only to be told if I request one I can have one and then the nice gentleman at the FOS asked if he could ring me back in a couple of Minutes after he had a look at my case so I said yes and waited 1 and half hours before he rang back, he then told me he had been on to Barclays and after alot of messing about Barclays are in fact going to send me a full and detailed breakdown for the Mastercard and the EGG. but will take months as they have to find all the statements ? so dont know how they came up with the offers in the first place !!

As many of you know Barclays pay you direct straight to your bank account so I have never agreed to payment my only concern is for the EGG I didnt have any statements but knew I had a 8K + balance for most of the years I paid PPI (2000- 2005) and they paid me just over 10K :T


If and when they find all details for the EGG if the amount is wrong
what will happen?

You sound like you are in a similar situation to myself regarding Egg and Barclays, but Egg (now Canada Square Operations, PO Box 4903, Worthing, BN99 3AR) do seem to hold decent records on accounts. Or at least they did for mine, which dated back to 2003 and following a SAR I submitted in Jan 2014, resulted in 4 inches of paperwork (I did have to pay the £10). My disclosure included all statements for my accounts plus a host of other information.
So I think claiming "months" to get the records is a little disingenuous.
If the amount of their offer is wrong, then I would assume they will re-calculate once they have the information (which I guess you could "speed up" by SARing Canada Square Operations and then helpfully forwarding the results to Barclays).

I did a SAR at the start with Barclays they only sent send info from 2007 to Present.
My problem was I wanted to know with the months they have estimated I wanted to know what the figure was as some months I was paying £20 + so wanted to make sure it was a fair estimation, when I put this to Barclays there reply was it is not our policy to offer a full and detailed break down !! so I asked them when I phoned up how I would check against my records only to be told you just have to trust us ( haha yeah right)

Well I have received my breakdown !!! Lets just say do not trust Barclaycard !!

just started going through and only on first page and out of 25 dates there is 17 that is wrong its amazing how the balance is correct but the PPI payment is wrong the interest rate is wrong I am amazed because so far these are the numbers from the statements I sent them so whoever entered my details on to their systems is not very good or just plain stupid !!!

Rest assured I have sent a very strong worded E Mail to the nice lady I spoke to in the CEO office on friday telling them to re look into the information I sent them and recalculate .

So anybody who has had a refund from Barclays and they have had to estimate some payments ask for a full and detailed breakdown and don't take the "sorry we don't give them" answer

Just goes to show still cant trust the banks !!!
