Mpi rejected - need advice

Hi there

A MPI was taken out with Halifax, a claim was put in last January and was rejected by them stating that we had limited means to protect the mortgage payments and stating our means were therefore inadequate. I never thought at the time to appeal this and just accepted that that was that.

I have just gone through some old paperwork and seen the needs and demands questionnaire that was completed at the time the policy was taken out and it states on all questions asked that the answers are either not disclosed or not applicable.

I have now missed the 6 month deadline to take this forward with the Ombudsman.

Is there anything else I can do or do I just have to accept that I won't be eligible for premiums to be repaid to me?

Thanks

You are out of time. So, game over

If its any consolation, the FOS reject most MPPI complaints as well. it doesnt have the same level of issues that loan and credit card PPI has. This was also recognised by the FSA in their review. It is also one of only two types of PPI still retailed today.

And what do you see that is wrong in that? (bear in mind that the policy does not required underwriting at point of sale and doesnt need the same disclosure requirements that a life assurance policy would for example). Also, a lot of the information required by the mortgage adviser/clerk would be the same as the mortgage application so there isnt a need for them to ask again on the insurance side.
