New Driver!!!

Options
Hi all, am a new driver so to speak ... am a single grandma, just got legal guardianship of my seven yr old grandaughter, (shes the best), trying to get music & film onto CD's for her. I got some Kodak DVD-R Data+Video Write Once Recordable 8xspeed 4.7GB 120Min .... Havent a clue wot 2do with them... is there a programme I can download totally free to enable music and film, if so which is the best? I tried putting my 'my documents' onto a CD but it keeps showing - CD full (its not its a new one)/not re-writable ... please can anyone help, I am obviously not doing it right at all. Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou  :A

i would burn your films/pics as a data disc, found this by googling `data disc burner`
    http://www.softpedia.com/get/CD-DVD-Tools/Data-CD-DVD-Burning/DVDCD-DATABURNER-with-Disc-Log.shtml

as for music you should burn that as an audio cd/dvd.

    hope this helps.

be prepared though cos when you first start burning discs you may end up with a lot of coasters (knackered discs)
    i recommend getting some rewritables.

  • you could try Ashampoo burner. you can download the software and then get a free key to use for 40 days. I use this - works well with no problems.

As Browntoa suggests, a little more detail about your machine and your requirements will help us to help you. :)
For instance; Do you have a DVD writer installed? What/Where is the source of the 'Music & Video' that you wish to put on CD/DVD?
  • Well I hope this makes sense to all you lovely helpful people, am so grateful regardless so thanks x So PC is a Philips is a windows 2000, and I dont think here is a DVD writer installed. So the CD/DVD I got r no gud then?? I presumed that if it stated on pack DVD-R that it means rewritable, DOH silly Grandma!! Any suggestions on a make/brand where to get them?? And wots a data disc - I really apologise for being a techno thicko.

We have to ascertain that you have a CD writer installed, in order for you to even consider creating discs.

If there is no DVD burner, the DVD discs are no good to you.

Can you ascertain that you have a CD writer installed?

If you need help... Go to My Computer Find the Drive letter corresponding to the CD drive(probably D: ) and make a click over the letter using the right hand side of the mouse. choose Properties

From there you should find the model number of the CD drive.

If you could write that down and post it here....
