Mould and mildew remover is good. I think mine is dettol?
I used to get this before I started to ventilate properly.
I now open my windows once a day even if t's cold and fling them open when I Hoover in each room.
Also if you see some condensation wipe it off and open the windowI'm C, Mummy to DS 29/11/2010 and DD 02/11/2013

Is it on the sealant or on the Plastic. Ours is on the sealant, so at some stage, I'm going to have to get a sharp blade and cut off the old sealant and replace it.0

If you use a bleach solution then I beleive it can help stop the mould regrowing quite as quickly. I'm sure there will be another MSE-er who can confirm this though.Everyone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!? :huh:0

I read that the mould can feed off the bleach. I didn't research this further but i have just seen this website (http://www.howtoremoveblackmold.com/how-to-kill-black-mold.html) that says the moisture it will leave behind will let the mould come back. I don't see how that is different with any other option though. I had it quite badly as I live in a cold damp cottage with no central heating and I like my bedroom cold. As the rest of the house gets heat from the wood burners it was just the one window. I cleaned it with bleach then rinsed it well then used vinegar to cleaned it again. Now I run a space heater near it occasionally and wipe any condensation off every morning and night. It's not come back.0 -

it's most likely condensation hanging around that's allowing the mould to flourish. I have all our windows open on the locked "slither open" position which has solved the problem we had. we have upvc windows so unless there is a fair amount of stagnant moisture there the mould can't grow - wooden windows need less moisture.
I've used a bleach solution effectively to get rid of the mould, but on its own it won't stop it coming back, that needs ventilation and actions to decrease/remove the moisture build up.:AA/give up smoking (done)0 -

It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0
