Old Style Daily - Friday 21st February

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Up bright and early here, it was quite nice waking at 5.55 instead of my usual 2.30, feel like I have had a good night's sleep.

Builders were still here when I got home, they have work to do on the roof and were building a cupboard in at the top of the stairs, an alcove that seemed to be a bit of a waste of space. I will be able to hide all my paperwork in the cupboard so it will look much tidier.

Happy Birthday Julie, hope you have a good day. Good news about your knee, hope you continue to improve.

Went to do my shift at the hospice, shopped at Ald! and then gutted the kitchen last night so that's clean - I have friends coming over for supper tonight and the rest of the place is covered in plaster and sawdust but at least the kitchen will be ok!

It's Friday, hope you all enjoy it, take care. XX

    Morning everyone

Julie - Happy Birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Blue sky and sun coming up here but looks like we’ve had a frost, so nice crisp fresh morning, we may get a whole dry day today!

DH up and gone to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was HM spag bol, was one of my better efforts and managed to save 1 portion that is now safely stashed in the freezer. Tonight menfolk are having ham, egg and chips, I’ll be having ham, egg and jacket potato.

Was a completely lazy mare yesterday – spent lots of time on pc, but I did get some caravan work done on the pc that did have to be done, and organised a couple of admin bits for us that needed to be done, but other than that and a couple of loads of washing I had a real CAB mood on. Although I did visit the new big SM that opened yesterday – I wasn’t going to bother but DH popped home at lunchtime and said why didn’t I go and have a look, he’d come past and it wasn’t horrendous queueing to get in although it was busy. So I went and I did buy a couple of bits – 2 x loaves of bread that we normally have – that were on offer, so won’t buy any today and I’d been sent a money off coupon from this particular SM for a product that I use – but the local store didn’t stock exactly that product from that range – so I grabbed an assistant and asked why they’d bother to send out a money off voucher for something they don’t stock? I then got an apology from a Supervisor and told to pick what I wanted from the range and they would honour the money off voucher. So picked the biggest pack size, that was already on half price offer and they honoured the voucher, it was for £2.50 (if it had been 25p or 50p I wouldn’t have bothered!) So I got premium grade dishwasher tablets 78 in the pack for £7.50 – result! Thought I’d try to see what they said as first day of store opening they wouldn’t want anyone in kicking up a stink! But also why send out a voucher for a product they don’t stock – what’s the point? I’m always on the look out now for the best value option.

Today I will be doing some chores – I will be heading to town to visit the bank, then food shopping. I will then return home, pack shopping away and will tackle the ironing mountain (actually it’s not that bad as up until now have been keeping on top of it). I will then do some cooking/baking and also get the boys to run the hoover over all the rooms. I want to get the beds changed too. I’m hoping that by just tackling some bits and making some headway I’ll get rid of this CAB feeling – I seem to have been like it for ages.

    Must crack on.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all,

Bright sky here ATM long may it last although we had a sharp frost this morning, the road to work is badly flooded so I really hope that's not frozen over !

Off to work for me but at least its Friday ! and I have the weekend off. Not sure about dinner tonight its either gnocci or smoked haddock with bread and butter will see what we fancy later on.

Will do another wash later on and get on the airer and have a tidy round.

Camelot I will put some photos of the wardrobes up on FB over the weekend x

    Happy Birthday to Julie xx

    Have good days all xx

Hubby fed & dropped at work, fish fed, me fed, washing on the line ( it's frosty & sunny, yay) & DW unloaded.
Plans for today include photographing 4 items for ebay, brushing mud out of car left by mad dog & DGC, ironing uniform for next week & waving the vacuum around. Then more knitting and/or crochet.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Happy Birthday Julie Hope you have a great day

Good morning chums, bright and sunny for a change and its so nice to see the sun after all the grey skies.
Bit nippy but bright and clear sky here in north Kent
My eldest DD comes home from her break in Devon today so at least they have good weather for travelling.
I'm taking the boys to see the Lego movie this afternoon as a treat, so I will pop into Family Bargains or Wilcos first to get some munchies for them, cinema goodies are far too expensive I think.
Hope everyone has enjoyed their half term as much as I have, it seems to have flown by,I can hardly believe that February only has a week left. Its DGS Jack's 14th birthday next Monday so I will have a look in the card shop for a nice one for him.I have bought him a really nice tee shirt that he wanted and I'll also give him some cash as well so he can go to Bluewater with his pals for a good look around. The older the boys get I think its nice for them to have a few quid so they can buy what they fancy.Jack is very canny when it comes to shopping and looks at everything twice before he buys :):):) wonder where he gets that from :):):)His other set of grandparents live a long way off so he usually gets cash from them and from his aunts and uncles as well.
Right time to get a wriggle on and have some breakfast and get round to DDs.Her OH has today off so I have had a day where I can take my time a bit more .
    Have a good day everyone
    Cheers JackieO xx

    Morning everyone,

Julie Happy birthday, hope that you get spoiled rotten.

    Molly, Hilstep, Snoozer Hugs.

LW It is a beautiful day here, makes me want to go and borrow my friend's dog and take her for a walk.

IM[/B I hope that you haven't hit your ganglion with a book!

DS had friends round for "pre-drinks" last night and then they went into town to a club to celebrate his 18th. They didn't go out till 10 30!
I got a text message from him at 4 30 this morning to say that he was spending the night at his girlfriends. I think that my little boy has grown up!

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Morning Morning!

    Happy Birthday Julie!

NPM - That you for the pin you sent me last night! :-)

Well, I've been busy planning our wedding which is so much fun, and a very MSE wedding, I think all in it will have cost us about £1500! which is amazing.

Going dress shopping next weekend ARGH.

Not much else to report really, been getting all crafty with invites and the like, should maybe think about decorations for the reception, but I find that bit the hardest.

tomorrow is my first day off in about 2 weeks, so looking forward to a well deserved lie in! Then we're off to caf! rouge to spend out Tesco vouchers before heading to party. My intention is to get all the house work done tonight and tomorrow so Sunday can be a proper day of rest. Even have a chilli cooked ready so I don't need to slave over a stove for dinner.

The kitten is enjoying his freedom outside immensely, and understand that curfew is when I get home from work. Having a Labrador brother may infact, be his down fall, as he doesn't seem threatened by the other cat neighbours, he's used to rough and tumble with a huge dog, so these cats aren't scary in the least and he's already starting to look like scar from the lion king. oh well!

Hope everyone is well, hugs to those who want/need them.
