My 20k plan - advice needed please

Hello everyone.
I have 20k to invest, for weeks I have been creating a strategy and forming my asset allocation. I plan to do the following:
- 9,000 held in savings for future safety should I need access to it.
split this in 5,760 Cash ISA and other current accounts etc.
- 9,000 in funds.
- The remaining 2,000 will be for treating my family soon.
Now, I am planning on buying into 2 funds.
7,000 in a diversified global fund or FTSE index tracker
2,000 in a riskier small cap growth / global growth fund.
This is where I am kind of all over the place.. I am a first time investor, and the amount of funds is overwhelming.
I have at least took care of asset allocation and how to use my money, but not sure if the funds I am selecting are right for me.
Here is my current shortlist:
7,000 to go in just one of the following:
Aberdeen FTSE ALL Share UK Tracker Trust Plc
http://www.trustnet.com/Factsheets/Factsheet.aspx?fundCode=ITEUK&univ=T
or a Global Funds
Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust
http://www.trustnet.com/Factsheets/Factsheet.aspx?fundCode=ITSMT&univ=T
F&C Managed Portfolio Trust Growth
http://www.trustnet.com/Factsheets/Factsheet.aspx?fundCode=C6FF9&univ=T
fundCode=C6FF9&univ=T
THEN... 2,000 to go in one of these, riskier smaller cap funds:
Marlborough UK Microcap growth
http://www.trustnet.com/Factsheets/Factsheet.aspx?fundCode=QMF31&univ=O
F&C Global Smaller companies investment trust
http://www.trustnet.com/Factsheets/Factsheet.aspx?fundCode=ITFCS&univ=T
So.. which 2 would you recommend from my 2 lists?
In list 1 - I am not sure whether to go for the UK tracker or global growth option. and list 2 the same, 1 is small cap uk, the other global smaller companies.
Hmmmmmm
Thanks for any advice on my plan. Greatly appreciated
