Hello all,
My wife and her friend, wish to have a few days away in Glasgow in the spring.
They would like to stay at the Hilton, near to the city centre.
Looking at May, going on a Thursday, home Monday, so 4 nights, on a twin bed deal with breakfast.
Advice,or a website to go to, for the best price would be appreciated.
Thanks in anticipation.

I generally just use hotels.com but through quidco.
I would add that there are plenty of hotels nearer the centre I would use before the Hilton. Check the Carlton George and see if they still do the free minibar and wifi.0 -
Love Glasgow
Glasgow city center.
That Hilton is not that good for location they will want to use taxis to get about.
What are they planning to do?
In the mid range there are plenty of places.
There is an IBIS and a Novotel that are near the Kings Theatre, plenty of places to eat. also close the bus routes to the kelvingrove museum/great curry place/city center(12 mins walk).
Nearer the center there are holiday inns top of Bucanhan street near the concert hall also near the subway to get to the west end.
The Mercure has tiny room(don't know if it has twins) but is very handy for merchant city and the George square are can be quite cheap.
I have a reasonable idea of the more basic B&B places as I have stayed at a few.0 -

Many thanks all for your responses
They are just doing a girls few days away, travelling up by train.
They have stayed at Hiltons' before, and enjoy their breakfast, which sets them up for the day! So it's shops, period buildings, museums, theatres; that sort of thing. So is a nice hotel, with a good breakfast,
achievable at £360 for 4 nights?
Thanks in anticipation.0 -
I jut did a long post and lost it,
what dates are you looking at?
There are loads of websites about Glasgow, start with the museums
http://www.glasgowlife.org.uk/museums/Pages/home.aspx
more info
https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=2898
Also check what's on at the theatres and concert halls it may be there is something worth trying to see while there.
Big new concert theatre hydro has massive headliners.
will follow up later
Also check out the first class train can be quite reasonable and much more comfortable.0 -

Many thanks to all,very helpful.
They will be there from 8th til 12th.May inc. I think we need to decide within the next couple of days, rather than leave it to the last minute. Any late posters welcome.0 -
Sorry got distracted.
IBIS is doing a breakfast rate for £226 for 4 nights.
http://www.accorhotels.com
(not IBIS budget that is not a great location for seeing the city)
The Burrell collection is worth a visit a good 1/2 day, there and back easy by bus but a walk from the road to the building so umbrella if raining.
There is another Hilton in the west end near the botanical gardens.
also handy for the subway to get to the center and a few places to eat
Main shopping street are Buchanan and Argyle both mostly pedestrian
I can add a few places to eat once the hotel bit is done.
streetview is quite good for getting a feel for an area.0
