hi, This is my first post, I moved into a property in December 13 the property had apparently been treated for dampness the wallpaper was all peeled back and the walls were black but I was told it was all fixed now, since moving here I have suffered several chest infections that have been treated with antibiotics, I have asthma and have 2 inhalers which 1 was gave since moving hear as I could barley breath
and been given steroids as I cant breath very well my chest is constantly tight/wheezy I have took several asthmatic attacks this has only been since I moved to this property, I have a 1 year old son who constantly has coughs and colds, I have been to the doctor to see about a letter to the housing department as the property is affecting me and my sons health, the gutters to the property are all broken the water is pouring down the walls onto the windows making the damp worse, under the front windows is all flooded with water which just keeps soaking back into the walls, all the windows on the flat are soaking wet with water which I need to use a window squeegee to clean the windows, The inside of the windows mould is appearing,my wallpaper in the house is peeling off with the damp/mould, I also suffer from mental health depression I cant handle the noise coming from the flat above me and through the wall the flat through the wall is homeless accommodation and alsorts of partys/fighting going on, we r not getting any sleep and my son is crying all the time getting scared off some of the roaring from through the wall, objects getting thrown about im waiting on something coming through the wall its that bad, prior to living hear I lived in temp accommodation myself for 2 years in a back in front door with own garden, the bit of garden that is hear now is not fenced off tree stumps all over the garden jaggy nettles bushes patch off grass covered in animal feces it is not safe for my son to play in if he got out the garden he would get ran over as the house is on a main road.I have contacted the council and they sent some1 out to have a look at the gutters and agreed that there was going to be some repairs although 6 weeks after agreeing there is still nothing done and the supervisor is never available and im leaving messages to call me back, I have just found out 2day that the previous tennant had apparently been reporting that the house has dampness aswell, I have asked to be moved house and I am now on the list do you think I will get moved if I get a doctors letter explaining how mine and my sons health is affected??

Sorry to hear of your problems OP, my advice would be to contact your local councillor and your MP and to make a real nuisance of yourself with the council ( it's all they understand), via repeated written and phone communication, the health of your son and yourself are paramount, these conditions are oppressive!0

I'm no expert, but Shelter are, have you had a look around the website?
It would also be a good idea to post on the hoeing section of this forum.0 -
From bits I've read on the Housing section, I think the Environmental Health department can issue notices or closure of properties if they are a health hazard.
