Quote for re bedding ridge tiles and felting roof

Options
Hi
We have a small damp patch in one of the bedrooms, a roofer said that we would need refelting, we live in a semi detached average sized 3 bedroom sized house. The cost for refelting at the front was £180

But he also said ridge tiles rebedding, this would cost £400 but would include the felting work above. The roofer didn't go up to look, would you need to go up to roof to check felt at eaves or ridge tiles or would a roofer be able to spot these issues a mile off,

The roofer is a local company that seems well respected

In terms of price it seems ok to me, is this about right?

1800 to refelt under the eaves to one side of the house and take off ridge tiles and rebed? Wow

To be fair I have no idea what this should cost but can't see it taking more than a day, materials for rebedding wouldn't come to much I'd have thought?

To be fair you didn't say under the eaves.
Couple of things, if you've got a damp patch in your bedroom changing the bottom stretch of felt wont solve the issue ,though it may hide it.
TO do the job you've got to take off the bottom5/6 rows tiles or slates. If you do have slates ,you will variably break 25% of them. Not so bad if you have tiles . Then you need to remove the roof batons ,again would always assume they would get broken ,so would need replacing .Then do the felt with breathable membrane, then put back. My opinion, none of this could be done off a ladder satisfactory ,so you need scaffolding as well. £180 wont do it. Funny how the roofer wants more money to bed the ridges ,which is dead easy than he does to replace the felt .
    Just an opinion.
