Vaillant boiler not firing up

My boiler was fine this morning and has been serviced very recently. Suddenly this evening I have no heating or hot water. I can hear it trying to work but perhaps not igniting. I have checked the things that I know about such as high/low water pressure but can't see a problem there.
I suspect that I will have to call out the engineer who has just serviced it for me (only 3 weeks ago) but just thought it might be worth asking here.

Model would be handy. Is it going into lockout? Any fault codes?0

It is a Vaillant 824. That is all i have as i didn't arrange installation. It was already here when I bought the house. What is "going into lockout"? I have looked for a fault code but haven't found anything. Not sure where else to check.0 -
Lockout occurs when there is a fault, such as failing to ignite, and it will not attempt to light again unless it is reset - on the display screen does it show an F code? eg F.75 or is it just displaying the temperature?
There are few different 824 models, if you look under the boiler on the bottom there will be a sticker which will say exactly which model it is.0 -

Yes I have looked at Internet photos of different models but none matches exactly and can't see any info underneath. If I press the + and - buttons together I get 5 f .6
Don't think I have lockout . It has made quite a few attempts to ignite during the evening and the sounds are much the same as usual . Have left phone message for engineer who did recent service. Will have to wait and see.0 -
OK, plumbers, I know nothing, but occasionally our boiler does not fire up even though the control panel is calling for heat/hot water. Seems to be a glitch which I have yet to get diagnosed. However, manually opening the motorised valves works as a temporary measure. Try sliding the metal bit across and locking it on the notch.Je suis sabot...0
