I'm looking to do a credit card balance transfer from my card to a card we're (my wife and I) looking to set up in my wife's name. Is this likely to be a problem?

Providing they are from different card provides this shouldn't be an issue.
A few lenders can be a bit funny if you try to do it over the phone, so it is often recommended to do via the online account (where they usually only ask for account number and amount to be transferred).A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Thanks for your help. Having trouble getting a card in my wife's name even though she earns 30k +. Been rejected by 2 card providers already I assume this is because she hasn't had a credit card for a few years and hasn't built up a credit issue. Any tips for improving her chances?
Will the previous rejections work against her?0 -
Has she not had any recent credit agreements?
Does her own bank offer a 0% credit card? They may be more willing to offer her one (if she runs the account with them well).
Any existing debts? any issues on her credit files such as missed payments for anything?
The rejections as such are not a problem, but lots of credit applications close together can cause an issue (a potential lender would only see she had made an application, not that she had been rejected).A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Apart from over-draughts no debts. We have joint accounts and I have better acceptance than her and have a third her income. Unfortunately not for the credit limit we need.
Many thanks for your help.0 -

Not sure how true and will vary from lender to lender, but I have heard overdraft use isn't seen too well by a number of lenders.0
