HI all. I am planning to relocate to Spain sometime this year. Is it better to open a bank account with, say, Santander and transfer my assets to it? will this avoid some bank charges?

You'll need to check but i think Santander UK and Spain are run as separate vehicles...Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Well if you transfer all your cash into a Santander current account, you'll be able to withdraw it in Spain at Santander ATMs with no charges, but that's the only benefit to my knowledge.0

I have close friends living in Spain and my girlfriend also has family out there. They keep UK bank accounts and have no issues. (For a few ex-pats in their village it has also made returning home more straightforward when they came to the conclusion that the grass wasn't greener!)0
