Entertainment for kids?

Options
Hi you lovely lot :)

Just been thinking, what could we do for the kids to keep them entertained? I know my DD will probably just enjoy playing with her cousins and dancing to the music, but what could I provide them with to play? This could also double up as thank you gifts for being part of the wedding/their favours, any ideas would be very welcome :) xxx

Apart from the normal thing (colouring, puzzles etc)

I did a kids photo challenge for a wedding.

Get them a disposable camera and a list of things they have to take photos of.

eg. A group of five people related to each other
The best man making a face
    The wedding cake
    someone wearing blue
Someone wearing a hat etc etc.

It worked quite well. Get them to give you their cameras at the end and you can keep the photos of your reception. Or they can keep and develop them themselves.

  • These are brilliant ideas, thank you so much :) x

For my wedding last year I did little goody bags with colouring sets and a toy or book depending on their age. Most of the children at mine were quite young (under 4).
  • kids at our wedding will range from 7-10 {there are 16-17 year olds though don't class the 16 and 17year old as children}

We will have only 3 kids, 7-10 too! I think the camera idea is great :) Not sure what age kids stop wanting to colour in?

  • I have done up my own activity book with things like word search, maze puzzles, code breaker, colouring pages, i spy! and a picture hunt... I will put this into a bag with crayons, a camera, some bubbles and some other quiet table bits for them to do on the day. I have also done a prize for whoever gets the i spy! right first..

If you Google search, a lot of ideas and pictures are available to put into something like this and I just used Publisher to put it all together into a workbook.. I have seen similar being sold on eBay for around £2-3 each x

My sister did something similar to this - she got a load of cheap plastic buckets (the wedding was in Cornwall so had a beach theme) and filled them with crayons, colouring books, bubbles and a couple of other small quiet things to keep the kids occupied during the dinner. There were quite a few kids at the wedding - if I remember rightly about six or seven of them and aged between 4 and 10 - and it went down really well.

Oh yes I would say definitely provide something, it makes ‘boringweddings’ in a childs eye more fun and they will feel more involved.

We have got a bunch of brown paper bags with handles which we are goingto make ‘pretty’ and inside we have: Homemade activity book from ideas on googleand pintrest with Welsh cross words, mazes, tic tac toe, hangman, drawing page etc. Then we have ‘people bingo’ where the children have to mark off their bingosheet by finding adults who match the descriptions and have to sign the bingosquare to prove the child found them. Ideas such as Find somebody who…. has abirthday this month and sing happy birthday to them, is over 60 and will giveyou a high five, is the tallest person, is wearing a hat etc.

In the bags there is also some colouring pencils, wooden spinners, wooden top with handle and string, glow sticks, finger flashing lights, paperairplanes etc.

our reception is out side with open barns so will have giant lawn gamesfor children and adults but the goody bags are mainly to keep them occupied incase it rains as there are 20 children!
